Price groups

In this article we explain more about the feature Price Groups.

Written by Paula Luiten - van der Schilt

Do you currently spend a lot of time compiling and updating product supply for customers? Then create price groups in Floriday to ensure that every buyer sees the right supply and prices!

This page explains the following topics:

General and customer specific price groups

When creating a price group, you can choose between a General price group and a Customer specific price group. You create a general price group when you work with flower supply and use Batch prices or Daily prices and want to reach all buyers. You create a general price group once. You create customer specific price groups for one or more buyers for whom you want to use the same prices for your supply.

The Catalog prices are used for offering plants and plant supply is only shown to customer specific price groups.

How to create a price group

Go to the menu on the left and click Supply > Direct sales > Price groups.

Create a new price group by clicking on Add price group.

Then, name your new price group. This name is only visible to your organization, not to the buyers.

When determining prices, you can choose between manually entering prices or calculating them. With a manual price group, you must enter a price yourself; with calculated pricing, prices are determined based on the base price. You can then apply a discount or a markup relative to the base price. Choose the option that works best for you.

Tip!

Do you regularly trade with certain buyers in dollars ($)? Then create a price group with the currency set to $. The buyer will then see prices in dollars and can make purchases in that currency.

Indicate whether this price group is General or Customer specific (if General cannot be selected, it means you already have a general price group).

Indicate whether delivery and transport are included in the price or if transport costs are to be charged to the buyer. Do you wish to bill transport costs separately? If so, set this service up as an exclusive item and handle the transport costs via the Delivery conditions.

Also, indicate whether the products are to be labeled with stickers for the specified price.

You also specify the minimum sales unit for your products. Do you sell your flowers or plants by container, by layer, or by full trolley? Set this up in the price group!

Please note!

Setting the minimum purchase unit is not the same as setting a minimum delivery quantity in the delivery terms! At the price group level, the purchase unit determines the minimum amount of a single item a buyer must purchase (e.g., a package, a layer, or a load carrier). The Delivery conditions specify the minimum total order quantity. For instance, you might allow a buyer to order by the package at the price group level, while stipulating in the delivery terms that the total order must amount to at least half a load carrier (trolley).

For a calculated price group, you configure several factors during price calculation: you apply a discount (e.g., for loyal customers) or a surcharge (e.g., for unknown buyers or those who consistently place small orders). This discount or surcharge can be set as a fixed amount or a specific percentage.

Additionally, you can calculate extra handling fees per item, for instance to cover processing costs. These handling fees can be allocated across a load carrier, a layer, or a container (with or without price rounding applied). Keep in mind that while a specific surcharge applies per trade item, the total handling fees will remain low for small orders. We recommend calculating transport costs via the delivery terms whenever possible; these terms allow you to set transport costs per load carrier (regardless of the load quantity) or waive the fees based on a specific volume or order value.

For a customer specific price group: Add the appropriate customers. Click Edit organizations and add the relevant customers by searching for them and clicking the plus sign. Once you have selected the correct customers, click Confirm at the top.

Click Save to finalize your price group.

You have now created one price group. You can create multiple price groups to categorize your buyers. You then use these price groups to set your prices under Catalog pices, Bulk prices, or Daily prices.

Handling connection requests from buyers

Buyers can submit a connection request. You will then receive a notification on your dashboard and in your price groups indicating that a customer is following you but has not yet been assigned to a price group.

Dashboard notification under Tasks:

Notifications under Price groups:

Click the + Classify customers button and select the price group you want to assign this customer to.

If you do not want to assign the customer to a price group, select the 'Ignore suggestion' button.

This buyer will then not see your supply (unless you have set up a general price group for your flower selection).

Tip!

Haven't you received a connection request (yet) from a buyer you’d like to do business with? You can also proactively assign customers to a customer specific price group. That way, when the customer browses your shop or searches for a specific supply via the Explorer, your supply will be visible to them.

Reassign a buyer to a different price group

You can move a customer from one price group to another. To do this, expand the price group and go to the target group. Find the customer you want to move and click the three dots on the right. Then, select "Move to" and choose the price group to which the customer should be moved.

Settling transport costs

An increasing number of buyers want to see shipping costs for a delivery itemized separately and wish to view the "net price" alongside the product. We recommend creating price groups that exclude transport costs whenever possible, and configuring transport and/or delivery charges via the Delivery conditions.

However, there are also buyers who only want to see all-inclusive prices. Buyers can specify this preference via a Trade setting and will then only see supply that include transport costs. If you have assigned such a client to a price group that excludes transport costs, you will see a notification:

For these customers, you could create a separate price group labeled "Including transport costs". You can then either increase the prices relative to the base price or set a minimum order quantity for this group via specific delivery conditions, ensuring that covering the transport costs doesn't become an issue. It is useful to assign a specific customer tag to this group of buyers; this makes it easy to include them in delivery terms or specific customer offers (that include transport costs).

Determining the order of price groups

You can change the order of the price groups by dragging them within the overview. This order is then reflected in the Catalog prices, Batch prices, and Daily prices. For example, this allows you to choose to display a calculated price group first, followed by a manual price group.
