With the Verpakkingsregister Sierteelt (VRS), we facilitate the digital exchange of sustainability data regarding packaging materials used in the ornamental horticulture sector. The Verpakkingsregister Sierteelt (VRS) helps increase transparency in the supply chain.
On this page, we explain more about:
Why a Verpakkingsregister Sierteelt (VRS)?
The Verpakkingsregister Sierteelt (VRS) aims to provide transparency regarding the packaging and materials used, thereby promoting sustainability in the sector. Through Floriday, we can share information more efficiently and effectively throughout the supply chain and make this visible. Exporters, for example, are required to file a customs declaration in the case of export. In that instance, the buyer can directly use the packaging information you have configured for an item in the declaration.
How does the VRS work?
The packaging register is not managed by Floriday, but by Floricode. Packaging suppliers populate Floricode's VRS with the packaging they (can) supply. Subsequently, this data is imported into Floriday, and these packages are available for you as a user to select for packing configurations.
How do I use the VRS for my packaging?
The data is automatically imported by Floriday from the Floricode database. All you have to do is link the correct packaging information to a selected packing configuration or the trade item. To include packaging materials for the packing configurations, such as trays, it is best to do this via the Manage packing configurations shortcut icon.
You will find this button at the top of the Catalog:
Select a specific package type at the top:
Select the trade items for which you want to edit this packing configuration via the VRS. You can click on the dots at the end of the line to set this per trade item (click on the three dots > Edit and proceed to step 4), but it is easiest to set this for all selected trade items at once. Check Packing configurations using the checkbox at the top.
Please note!
With the checkbox, you select only the packing configurations shown on this page. Do you have many of the same packing configurations? Then make sure you adjust these on all pages or adjust the number of lines displayed on the page.
Then click on the Edit option at the bottom and select Package.
Select the Connected packaging supplier option at the top (instead of Other).
Fill in the fields and save the data using the Save button.
The packaging material is now also shown with these packing configurations:
Don't forget to save the changes by clicking the Save button at the top.
In this way, you can add the packaging information from the packaging supplier for all your packing configurations.
At the trade item level, you can find the specifications of the packaging material under Packing configurations. This data is now also available to the buyer.
How can I add additional packaging material to a trade item?
In addition to adding packaging information at the packing configurations level, you can also provide standard packaging information at the trade item level. Examples include the (growing) pot, sleeves, stakes, flower food, etc. Because these are per-item additions, you can easily configure this at the trade item level.
Is this packaging optional and not included as standard with this item? Then make use of the Additional Services. With Additional Services, buyers can add these options to an order themselves, and you can charge extra fees for this, if desired. With the Additional Services feature, you can also provide packaging information per service.
Read here how to add the packaging information to the Additional services.
Do you want to add additional packaging information at the trade item level, because this is supplied with this trade item as standard? Open a trade item to edit it and select the Additional packaging materials section. Find the correct item by filtering or searching for a specific search term.
Tip!
Are you using the same packaging material for multiple items? Select the desired items and set it up for multiple items at once via the Quick actions option > Add additional packaging material, and proceed to step 3:
Click on the Add packaging material button.
Select the desired packaging supplier and select the correct type of packaging material.
Once the correct packaging material has been selected, you will see the material specifications below the details.
Click Save to add this to your trade item.
Do you use multiple packaging materials for a trade item? After adding the first packaging material, add multiple packaging materials in the same manner. You could also consider items such as flowercare, sleeves, plugs, etc.
Adding packaging material to additional services
Do you have additional services that buyers can add to their order? Then also set the packaging information from the VRS for these options.
Go to Catalog > Additional services.
Click on the item on the left for which you want to add the packaging information:
Select Edit via the three dots at the end:
In the pop-up screen to modify the additional service, you can select Connect packaging supplier. Check this box, enter the details, and click Save at the bottom.
I cannot find my packaging in the register, what can I do?
Are you unable to find a packaging supplier or specific packaging in the VRS system? Then please contact your packaging supplier. They can indicate whether they have already fully populated the VRS at Floricode. They should also have the correct name for the type of packaging available. In the case of customer-specific packaging, a different registration method may be required. Therefore, it is possible that certain packaging is not yet listed in the VRS.
Confidential packaging
For certain types of packaging, it is important that the data is treated confidentially (for example, customer-specific packing configurations). Work is currently underway on a method to register these confidential packages as well and make them available to specific users. Such packaging will also be made available in the future.
